Speedlingua is a computer programme which enables the opening of the ear to the sounds of a foreign language. This is achieved through the computerised processing of your voice, which improves the perception of these sounds in your brain. This is both necessary and successful because at the start, we are only able to perceive the sounds of our own language properly.
The key to languages is listening. You cannot reproduce properly what you do not hear properly.
The direct objective is therefore to open up your ears to the sounds of the target language.
The ear is attuned to the dominant frequencies, rhythm and musicality of the native language. We are usually not very proficient at distinguishing the phonetic nuances of other languages.
As a result, we tend to pronounce foreign languages like our own language.
As well as opening up our hearing, Speedlingua:
improves pronunciation and fluency;
develops mastery of the prosody of the target language (its natural musicality and rhythms);
increases the span of the auditory memory (the memory capacity);
enhances ease of understanding and oral expression;
greatly accelerates progress in language learning (see the Socrates European report), leading to a better return on investment in language training.
TheSpeedlingua method
Phase 1: listening
[For 15 minutes, the learner listens to modulated music which ‘opens up’ the ear to the dominant frequencies of the target language. This phase functions as a ‘warm-up’, giving the learner suitable preparation for the pronunciation phase.]
Phase 2: pronunciation and simultaneous listening
[During this 30-minute phase, the Speedlingua technology modulates your voice in real time to the dominant frequencies of the target language (see frequency table). Without your being aware of it and quite naturally, your pronunciation improves. Speedlingua rapidly and easily brings you to the point where you can understand the language and pronounce it like a native speaker.]
Phase 3: pronunciation and simultaneous listening
12 to 25 sessions (each lasting 30 to 45 minutes) are needed to consolidate progress.
Ideally, Speedlingua is integrated in the language course either beforehand or right at the start. The program can be installed either at the company’s resource centre (where several people can easily enroll) or on a PC (using a DVD-Rom).
It can also be followed on a PC at one of our centers.
Speedlingua ensures a better return on investment in language training!
Levels Complete beginner to highly advanced (European proficiency levels up to C2).
Content As well as pronunciation and listening tests, you have access to four types of exercise: phonetics, general exercises (around 70), thematic phrases and free expression.
